The Payout Hold Index: How Long CS2 Sites Really Keep Your Money
Thirteen of the 19 CS2 sites that state a payout time on their own pages hold your money for seven days, matching Valve's Trade Protection window, and five hold it for eight. We read the terms, FAQs and help pages of 31 trading sites in October 2026 and kept only what we could quote. Early payouts exist, but the published caps are $200 and $250, SellYourSkins holds Rust money that Steam does not protect, and four sites contradict themselves about when you get paid.
Valve Allows Seven Days Of Reversals, Five Sites Hold Your Money For Eight
Steam Trade Protection arrived with a Counter-Strike 2 update in July 2025. As PCWorld reported at the time, either side can reverse a trade for seven days, a reversal undoes every trade made in the last seven days, and the account then enters a 30-day cooldown with no Community Market trading. Every cash-out site had to answer the same question overnight: pay the seller now and risk losing the item, or hold the money until the window closes. We read how 31 of them answered. On 12 and 13 October 2026 we opened each site's terms of service, FAQ, help centre and sell pages, and kept only what the site says about itself. Then we removed every claim we could not quote word for word on a final check. Nineteen sites state a payout time in plain words. The other twelve are named at the end. Thirteen sites pay after seven days, matching Valve. Five pay after eight: Skinsauna, WhiteMarket, Dupe.fi, 49skins and SkinPlace. Buff.Market says seven to eight. The extra day is the platform's own buffer. Steam does not require it.
The Index Shows 19 Sites And The Payout Time Each One States
Every row quotes the site's own page as it read on 13 October 2026. Where a site says two different things, both are in the row. Help articles get rewritten, so the source column names the page and its date wherever one is shown.
The End Of The Hold Is Not The Day Money Reaches You
The hold only decides when a payout can start. Tradeit's help centre, updated 2 August 2026, is the most candid page we found: the average payment time is seven to ten days, a bank transfer takes another two to three business days after the payout is sent, and about 14 days is the realistic worst case. Several sites also split held money into what you can spend and what you can withdraw. Waxpeer lets you buy CS2 skins with held funds right away, and its system draws from the hold automatically once your main balance runs out. SkinSwap says its CS balance stays spendable even while under protection. Swap.gg lets you buy with Reserved Balance, but the item waits in your Backpack until enough value clears. On all three, the lock applies to withdrawals only. Spending stays open, which keeps held money on the site.
Early Payout Exists, And The Published Caps Stop At $250
Seven sites describe some way around the wait. Paying before the window closes means the platform carries the reversal risk itself, so the sites that publish conditions limit how much of that risk you can take. The two published caps are $200 and $250. Run the numbers on the Lis-Skins rule, which ties early payout to 10 percent of your lifetime sales. A seller with $500 in sales can take $50 early, and nobody can take more than $250. A new account selling a $1,000 knife gets nothing early on either published cap. Early payout rewards the volume you have already done.
- Lis-Skins: identity verification, at least $50 in total sales, then up to 10 percent of your total sales, capped at $250
- Skin.Land: verification, $50 in total sales, a trade limit of 10 percent of total sales, maximum $200
- Skinsauna: one-time verification and a weekly limit that grows as you trade, with any payout fee shown before you confirm
- Skins.Cash: Instant Trading only for trusted accounts with a consistent history, and access can be revoked at any time
- BitSkins: no lock when the item had already sat on BitSkins for more than seven days before it sold
- RapidSkins: an Instant Cash feature for CS2, with no conditions on the page that mentions it
- CS.Deals: instant sell is described as selling for real money instantly, with no conditions on the homepage
Rust Has No Trade Protection, Yet SellYourSkins Holds Rust Sales For Seven Days
SkinSwap's help centre says Rust trades are not protected by Steam's rollback system. Skinsauna says Rust items have no Steam trade protection and pays them in full as soon as you accept the trade. RapidSkins says Rust skins have no Steam reversal hold and pays the moment the trade completes. Swap.gg counts Rust and TF2 balance as unaffected by reversals. SellYourSkins goes the other way. It applies the same seven-day hold to every sale, including Rust, Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2 items, and says the hold cannot be skipped or shortened. That hold does not come from Steam. If you sell Rust items, the site you pick decides whether you wait a week or get paid on the spot.
Four Sites Contradict Themselves About When You Get Paid
When a sell page and a contract disagree, the contract is what support quotes back to you. These four say two different things in public.
- CSBoard: its marketplace page says you receive USDT to your crypto wallet instantly, with payout speed under 60 seconds. Its terms, updated 9 September 2026, credit sold-item funds to your withdrawable balance no earlier than seven calendar
- Skinsauna: its payout page says Steam keeps CS2 items under trade protection for eight days. Valve's window is seven, and Skinsauna's own blog from 23 July 2026 says seven
- 49skins: the homepage calculator shows an instant payout to your account, while its terms defer payout for eight calendar days with the money held at Stripe
- SkinPlace: the tagline promises cash instantly, while its FAQ credits sale funds eight days after the item is frozen to the buyer
The Contract Decides Who Carries The Risk During The Wait
The hold protects the platform from reversals. Some contracts also move other risks onto the seller while the money sits there. Skins.Cash shows it most clearly: during the hold the seller absorbs a falling price, and a rising price never reaches the seller.
- Skins.Cash adjusts your payout if the price falls during the week. A drop of 10 percent or less pays the full quote, 10 to 15 percent pays half the difference, and above 15 percent pays the new market price on the seventh day. If the price
- CSBoard can hold rare or unusually priced items for up to 30 days, and a mass reversal means no payout is owed for anything sold in that window
- Dupe.fi can change the length of its roughly eight-day escrow at any time without notice, and says it cannot guarantee it will detect a reversal automatically
- 49skins may reclaim amounts already paid out, in whole or in part, and reduce future payouts
- WhiteMarket locks sale funds for eight days, says the lock is there to manage disputes, and its terms offer no early option
Twelve Sites Did Not Give Us A Payout Day We Could Confirm
Skinport, CSFloat, SkinBaron, ShadowPay, Market.CSGO, Exeskins, SkinThunder, Avan Market, DMarket and SkinCashier are not in the index. Their payout pages load only through scripts our check could not read, sit behind a login, list the question without a public answer, failed to load on the final check, or no longer show the clause we found earlier. Swap.gg and RapidSkins explain how the reversal window affects balances, but neither page states a payout day for sale money in plain words, so they appear above only where we quote them directly. Trackers publish figures for some of them without citing the platform, so we leave those out. If you sell on one of these sites, the payout screen inside your account is the only authority. Take a screenshot of it before you accept the trade.
Five Questions Reveal Any Site's Real Payout Time In Two Minutes
Search the site's terms for the words calendar days, hold, protection and escrow, then answer these before you list anything. Our platform reviews go further into each site's terms, fees and payout screens.
- How many days does the contract say, and are they calendar days
- Does the early payout have a cap, and does your sales history reach it
- Is held money withdrawable later or only spendable now
- Does the hold also apply to Rust items, which Steam does not protect
- Does the payout change if the price moves during the hold
