CS2 M14: Everything We Know About the Sniper Rifle Found in the Game Files

The M14 Exists Only In CS2's Files So Far

Valve has not announced an M14, and there is no M14 in the game. What exists is an entry in weapons.vdata, the file that holds weapon stats, added with the Rush Hour update on 22 September 2026. Dataminers Thour and aqua found it within hours and posted the numbers on X. Strafe reports that the files also reference a model called weapon_rif_m14.vmdl and a skeleton made for it, so someone at Valve has started on the gun itself. Nobody has seen that model in the game. The images of an M14 going around social media are mockups. skin.club notes that the files put the M14 in the rifle slot. It has no sniper category of its own. Hotspawn points out that if it ships, it would be the first new gun in Counter-Strike since the MP5-SD in 2018.

Several Stats Are Confirmed By More Than One Source

These numbers appear in the reports of Hotspawn, Strafe and skin.club, all based on the same file. Next to them are the AWP's current numbers, taken from the CS2 stats database csdb.gg.

Almost Every Number Matches The AWP

Put the two columns side by side and only the price really differs. Damage, headshot multiplier, armor ratio, kill reward and ammunition are the AWP's own values. The real M14 is a 7.62mm American battle rifle from the late 1950s with a 20-round magazine. The files give it the AWP's .338 round instead. My read: this is an early entry built from the AWP template, with the price changed and little else. That does not make the leak fake. It means the numbers above are the ones most likely to change before release, if a release happens at all.

The Magazine And The Fire Rate Are Still Disputed

The dataminers read the ammunition fields differently. Thour, Hotspawn and skin.club report a five-round magazine, and Strafe adds five rounds in reserve. Aqua, as quoted by CS2 News and Pley, reads it as one round in the chamber with five spare magazines, which would make the M14 a one-shot-per-reload rifle. Some Telegram channels also posted a time between shots of 1.85 seconds against the AWP's 1.46, and said the M14 moves faster while scoped. The AWP figure checks out: 41 shots per minute is one shot every 1.46 seconds. The M14 figures do not appear in any of the dataminers' posts or reports I checked, so treat them as unconfirmed.

Valve Takes Months Or Years To Ship What Dataminers Find

The MP5-SD is the closest example. Its outline, HUD and kill icons appeared in the game files on 15 March 2017, according to the Counter-Strike Wiki. The gun shipped on 15 August 2018, seventeen months later. CS2's pets took longer still: the first pet slot showed up in May 2023, and chicken eggs reached weekly drops in September 2026. Launch numbers change too. The R8 Revolver arrived on 8 December 2015 and was so strong that Valve cut its damage and slowed its firing within three days. As GameSpot reported, Valve said it was clear they had got the damage wrong.

New Guns Have Brought New Skins, Sometimes On Day One

The R8 Revolver came with its own case. The Revolver Case, with the R8 Revolver Fade as one of its skins, launched the same day as the gun, 8 December 2015. The MP5-SD waited. Its first skins came in the 2018 Inferno and Nuke collections, which CSGO Database dates to 1 September 2018. Its first case skin, the MP5-SD Phosphor, arrived in the Danger Zone Case on 6 December 2018, almost four months after the gun. No report so far mentions M14 skins in the files.

There Is Nothing To Buy Or Sell Yet

No M14 skins exist, so there is no M14 market. Anyone offering M14 skins, early access or a beta key today is running a scam, because none of those things exist.
